Monkstown Golf Club
Established in 1908.
Welcome to Monkstown Golf Club and thank you for accessing our website, as a member or guest.
Not only do we have a great course, but we have a great history. You will note that our logo is a castle and as you wait to walk down to the 7th Tee box, on your left, you will see the location of the original Castle, now privately owned [constructed by Anastasia Archdeacon in 1696 and it is said that it cost her only a groat (4 pence)]. The Castle served as our clubhouse until we relocated to our present location to accommodate the demand for membership. We have seen a great interest recently in membership of the Club. We are currently open for 2023 applications, more information is available in the membership section of the website. Our interesting history is available in the beautiful centenary book published in 2009, sponsored by Tom McCarthy Snr. Click here to view a PDF version of the book.
Back in 1908 Monkstown GC was a 9-hole course, today Monkstown Golf Club is one of the foremost 18-hole golf Clubs in Munster, a testimony to our members love of golf down the years and top-class greenkeeper, Martin Travers, and staff.
When you arrive for your round of golf make sure to give yourself time to enjoy our facilities.
First check in and visit our quality stocked Pro shop under renowned professional & former Irish International, Cian McNamara and his P.G.A. qualified staff, who are available for lessons on your short or long game. And of course if you require a buggy or trolley, Cian and his team can help you.
Then head to experience our new state of the art driving range and Trackman facility which will be open an operational in mid January. You can get your token in the pro shop.
Now that you’re warmed up spend some time on our short course facility, beside the putting green, chipping, bunker play and putting – after all; “it’s the short game that counts”.
Then you’re up to the first Tee to enjoy a fair but testing round of golf from a variety of tees with some lovely views over Cork Harbour. From tee box to green you will find our course in top condition. Of note is our Par 3 6th hole designed by the legendary Alastair Mc Kenzie, while visiting Cork.
Having won your bet [or commiserations if you lost] make your way upstairs to our bar and restaurant – renowned in golfing circles as one of the best restaurants in any golf club bar none, thanks to our brilliant chef Alan Field and engaging staff.
Then we wish you a safe journey home and thank you for visiting us.
Monkstown Golf Club is renowned for its warm welcome for visitors and caring for its members. Welcome again and enjoy your experience.
