The Ladies Club in Monkstown is vibrant, dynamic and increasing in size with a membership of approximately 240 – we have recently welcomed 26 new members under the Confederation of Golf Ireland (CGI) “Get into Golf” programme – 2017. The whole club joins in welcoming these new members and hope they have many happy years as members in Monkstown.
Ladies are encouraged to get involved in both competitive and social golf with a view to offering our membership golf to suit their requirements. Our 18 hole weekly competition is held over 2 days, Sunday and Tuesday to facilitate members and a weekly 9 hole competition is held on Tuesday for those members who prefer a shorter course. We run an 18 hole competition on Saturday also.
The Sunday/Tuesday is our most popular competition with an average of 100 players weekly.
In 2017 we entered teams into the AIG Leagues, Mary McKenna Trophy and our local competitions, the Mixed Most, National Mixed Foursomes
We pride ourselves on being a most welcoming, encouraging and sociable Club. On the golfing front we gather for a sociable 9 holes most Thursday mornings. Some players have an arrangement in place to play with friends but everyone who arrives on spec will get a game.
In general we have an Invitation Mixed Foursomes Scramble on the Sunday of a bank holiday weekend. This is a very well supported and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon with 13 holes of golf in the company of members and friends followed by dinner and a presentation of prizes.
The depth of performance talent in Monkstown is legendary and our musical extravaganzas showcase this.
