The Club Restaurant has been nominated for the award of “Best Private Dining and Club Restaurant” in the 2019 Irish Restaurant Awards. Well done to Debbie and Alan and all the team and good luck on the 20th March at the Munster Regional Awards.
|Our Joint Club AGM is taking place tonight, Thursday, 6th December @ 7.30pm in the clubhouse. This is the first time the AGM is being run on a separate day. The Joint Club AGM is open to all Ordinary and Honorary members and we would urge you all to attend as this is where decisions about the management, operation and future of your club are made.
There are a number of Constitutional Motions (3) and General Proposals (2) tabled – all of which were emailed to you by the acting general manager on 20 November last and are also available in the members section of our website and posted on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
These motions/proposals are very important for the future of your club and it is vital that as many members as possible attend to ensure that your voice is heard and that you agree with the results of the voting and the impact your decisions will have on our club and your membership of our club.
The Management Committee have tabled one constitutional motion – Motion No.1 click on link and we have prepared an Information Document click on link in advance for you to read and to understand the purpose of the proposed amendments.

|Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of Monkstown Golf Club Joint Club will take place on Thursday 6th December 2018 at 7:30pm in the Clubhouse.
Notices of motions, in accordance with Constitution clause 5.3.4, must be received by the General Manager at least 21 days before 6th December 2018 and all motions received shall be displayed on the Club Notice Board as soon as possible thereafter but not less than 14 days before the date of the meeting. Members may make an amendment to a proposed motion provided that such amendment is received in writing by the General Manager at least 10 days before the date of the General Meeting. Any such amendments shall be displayed on the Club Notice board at least 7 days in advance of the General Meeting.
Elections shall take place for the following positions:
The President of the Club shall normally be the nominee of the outgoing President and will normally have served as Vice –President in the preceding year. As incoming President he or she has the right to nominate a Vice President.
Notwithstanding the nomination procedures described above and in accordance with Constitution clause 6.2.3, 10 Ordinary Members of the Joint Club may nominate an opposing candidate for any of the offices described above. Any such nomination shall be submitted to the General Manager at least 10 days in advance of the relevant Annual General Meeting. Such nomination shall be accompanied by a letter from each individual candidate formally accepting the nomination and agreeing to let his/her name go forward for election to a specific office. The General Manager forthwith upon receipt of any such nomination shall post a notice on the Notice Board in the Clubhouse, setting forth the names of the persons so nominated together with their nominees for at least 7 days prior to the date of the meeting. Members shall also be advised by Email where possible or by post where requested.
Dinner in honour of our Captain Jamie O’Mahony and our President Ada O’Sullivan will take place on Friday 23rd November, 2018.

Chairman Rob Andrews announced the appointment of Brian Hurley as our new General Manager.
Brian is a native of Cork and is presently the General Manager at Portmarnock Golf Club, a role he has held since May 2013. Prior to Portmarnock Brian was the General Manager at Dooks in Glenbeigh from May 2008 to May 2013.
Brian is a qualified golf professional and a member of the PGA. He has spent his entire career in the golf industry and was recognized last month by the Irish Golf Tour Operator Association as the Golf Club Manager of the year 2018.
We are delighted that Brian is joining the team at Monkstown and we are sure all our members will give him a warm welcome. Brian will be joining us on the 4th February 2019.

Our Annual Corporate Day will be held on Friday 14th September, 2018.

This has always been an enjoyable day and the proceeds go toward future development of the Club.

The bridge club’s base, as ever, is Monkstown Golf Club where its excellent facilities are much appreciated by all bridge club members. From September through to May the bridge club enjoys the excellent facilities of Monkstown Golf Club, facilities which are very much appreciated by the membership.
The bridge club would be delighted to welcome new members and indeed we would be very happy to arrange bridge lessons for anyone interested in taking up a game which is both stimulating and enjoyable.
