NO PLAY ZONE – RHS OF 17th
If a ball is in the ground under repair on the Right Hand Side of the 17th green, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found came to rest in the ground under repair, the player must:
- Take free relief under Rule 16.1, or
- As an extra option, take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone marked by a white line approaching the Right Hand Side of the 17th green. The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3.
Please observe the ROPED-OFF areas – strictly no carts or buggies inside the ropes. Please continue to take and use the divot bags to refill divots – bringing back a full divot bag defeats the purpose! Please also repair pitch marks on the greens.
As you are probably aware, the Rules of Golf have been updated and the new Rules will be effective January 2019. It is important that all players familiarise themselves with the changes to the Rules.
To facilitate this, we have made available a number of copies of the “Player’s Edition of the Rules of Golf” which you may already have availed of in the Locker Room. More copies will be made available when we receive them.
In addition, we strongly recommend that you access the following link to the R&A Rules videos (Rules Modernisation Videos)
Further resources from The R&A are also available at https://www.randa.org/en/rules-modernisation
Given the extent of changes to Rule numbers, terminology and wording of Local Rules for 2019, we have updated our own Local Rules.
Our new Local Rules will be on the back of new scorecards which will be available prior to Qualifying competitions in 2019. In the meantime, copies of these new Local Rules effective January 2019 are available in the Locker Rooms, Pro Shop and are on the back of the Men’s Winter 15 Hole scorecards. The new Local Rules are:
- OUT OF BOUNDS
- Anywhere within Car Park.
- The enclosure around the Clubhouse and Professional Shop
- Practice putting greens to include area inside White Line/Stakes
- All ground outside the Boundaries of the Course
- ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS
Artificial roads, artificial pathways, wooden steps, seats, shelters, wire stays, sprinkler heads, hydrant covers, the bells on the 3rd/5th/9th, wire fence between roadway and 7th fairway, drain covers at back of 10th green, all areas marked with White Lines or marked GUR. Relief may be taken as in Rule 16.1
- INTEGRAL PARTS OF COURSE
All plantations and trees are in play, staked or otherwise unless marked as GUR (incl. stake).
- ELECTRICAL WIRES
Balls striking overhead wires must be replayed without penalty.
All players are expected to conform to the accepted etiquette of the game of golf.
When teeing off on 7th hole, one member of the group must stand behind the wire mesh to ensure that the road is clear for others to drive.
- DRAIN ON 6th GREEN
A ball that comes to rest in or on the line of putt on the drain at the back right hand side of the 6th green may be lifted, cleaned and placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation.
- 18th HOLE – RELIEF ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE RED PENALTY AREA BETWEEN 18th & 14th FAIRWAYS
When a player’s ball is in a penalty area, including when it is known or virtually certain to be in a penalty area even though not found, the player may take relief using one of the options under Rule 17.1d.
Or, when playing the 18th hole, when the ball last crossed the edge of the red penalty area between the 18th and 14th fairways, as an extra relief option adding one penalty stroke, the player may drop the original ball or another ball on the opposite side of the penalty area (14th fairway side) within two club-lengths of the Reference Point.
Winter Rules are in play until further notice.
